The Scholars & Iron Podcast

Sep 30, 2020

It’s September 30th, 2020, and it was exactly one year ago today when this podcast first launched. Mike Bevers, a close friend but really a brother of mine, and I had both went through academia with a sense that we explored only one aspect of our being—our mind—but that our bodies were rarely ever an object of growth and development in their own right. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing coaches and trainers, poets, and powerlifters, to look at this curious nexus between mental fortitude and corporeal knowledge.

And on that note, I wanted to end the first year of Scholars & Iron with a friend who’s made a big impact in my own strength development, Blaine Dulin.

Blaine Dulin is a National Academy of Sports Medicine-certified personal trainer and a powerlifting coach here in Northern Virginia. He’s trained numerous champs in powerlifting of all ages, and has observed the differences when it comes to gender as well as age. Most of Blaine’s athletes have been trained from the ground up, and understands how some of the bigger factors like age and genetics play.
